Gaelic football has been central to school life in St Joseph’s for generations. We believe that sport is something that gives students of all abilities a way to contribute to the school community. It is vital for their development outside of the classrooms and fosters essential skills such as teamwork, responsibility as well as the health benefits.
St Joseph’s Gaelic Football teams have for many years punched above their weight in Mayo and Connacht competitions, regularly outperforming schools of bigger sizes. In recent years the school have won championships in various age-groups in the “C” championships. Due to our small numbers everybody gets a chance to represent the school and get a taste for the game.
